Las Vegas Tours
Although many people think of night-life and neon when they think of Las Vegas, the city’s unique location in the Nevada desert provides plenty of activities for nature lovers as well as those who enjoy the hotels and city attractions. There are many different tours available in and around the Las Vegas area and they can be taken via bus, horseback, helicopter and whitewater raft.
A Vegas Evening Tour
The 6-hour Vegas Evening Tour departs daily at 5:30 in the evening from several popular Las Vegas hotels. The tour is conducted in an air-conditioned bus, but there are some places where the bus will stop and you will need to do some walking to see the attractions. Some of the attractions visited as part of the tour are Madame Tussaud’s at the Venetian, the Bellagio’s fountain show and the Freemont Street Experience light show. The tour is available on Monday through Wednesday and on Thursdays. The tour runs year-round but does not run on Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year’s Day.

Area 51 Tour
This SUV tour picks you up and drops you off at hotels in Las Vegas. The tour takes you through the Joshua Tree Forest to the gates, guards, surveillance devices and the Black Mailbox that have made Area 51 famous. Tour participants will also be given the opportunity to eat at the Little A’Le’Inn and to visit the dry lake where many UFO sightings have been reported. The tour is 8 to 9 hours long and includes bottled water, snacks and hot drinks in the winter. Cameras, tripods and film are available for a fee. Please note that this tour travels to some remote locations, so access to restrooms is limited. The tour departs at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesdays only, however, special tour times are available for groups of 4 or more.

Red Rock Canyon Rim Horseback Ride
Available daily, a bus picks you up at one of several Las Vegas hotels and takes you on a 2- hour tour of the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. The canyon features volcanic formations, geological features, colored mountains, wildlife and desert plants. This horseback ride takes you to the top of the mountain overlooking Las Vegas. The tour departs at different times in the morning throughout the year. The tour begins at 7:00 a.m. in June, 7:30 from July to September, and 9:00 from October to December. Sunscreen, layered clothing, long pants and close-toed shoes are recommended for tour participants. This tour is not for individuals under 8 years of age.
